Show up. Change how you live.
Beginner Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at ARMA
Adult BJJ for Beginners
At ARMA, we don’t train adults to fight.
We train them to face a challenge with a calm mind. You’ll learn to not only show up on the mats, but also to show up in life.

Here’s some questions we get asked:
What if I’ve never tried a martial art?
That’s the whole point! This is designed for people who are in your exact shoes and our coaches know exactly how to meet you where you’re at.
What does Gi or No Gi mean?
Gi refers to the traditional jiu jitsu uniform which is a jacket and pants that allow for grips and control techniques. No-Gi is training without the uniform, wearing what’s called a rash guard and shorts instead. This style tends to be faster and more athletic. For beginners, we recommend starting with Gi classes as the Gi helps you learn technique more slowly and clearly.
Do I need to wear anything specific?
If you’re doing a Gi class, we’ll lend you one. Bring a t-shirt and shorts to wear underneath. For No-Gi, wear a fitted top and shorts without pockets, any loose kit just makes you an easy target on the mats.
I don’t think I’m fit enough to start.
You don’t need to be The Rock to start. There’s plenty of breaks to catch your breath and have some water.
